Drip irrigation system majorly uses 63mm and 50mm gauge 6 HDPE pipe. It can be installed in two ways. In the ground surface or on the ground.

Drip irrigation comprises of many components example tank connector, male adapter, female adapter, ball cork, filter, elbow, endcap etc. which are connected to each other.

Water source

There are basically two main sources of water; Ground water or surface water which can be pumped direct to the irrigation system or else to the tank then be connected to the system.

The quality of water for irrigation relates to the parameter required to maintain the crops health and the integrity of the irrigation system.

Filtration

It is a critical process in drip irrigation as it prevents the irrigation water from clogging the drippers.

Filtration can be done either by use of disc or screen filter.

Main and sub main pipe

This pipeline carries water[A1]  after filtration process to the sub main pipeline which is connected with the driplines.

Driplines

The type of dripper to be used depends on the crop grown .For example; onion requires a gap distance of 15cm, tomato a distance of 45cm etc.

Drip min valve or take off are used to connect driplines to the submain pipe where submain pipe is buried on the soil. Where submain pipe is buried under the ground, Stater are used to connect the risers with submain pipe.

Drip connectors are used to connect one dripline to another and  drip endcaps are used to lock driplines at the end to prevent water leakage.
